Daily report #81

From the squeaky bag and the feathers

Yippieieie dear followers!!!
You may know yesterday and today we were in the bleep bag, deep in the bleep bag. You already read it, our trusty Perkins engine got tired and wouldn't start anymore. From yesterday morning until half past five today, Ton has been at work and has dewatered, cleaned and bled the entire fuel system. Disappointment the engine would not start. Replace the fuel pump. Disappointment the engine would not start. A lot of bleeding, again disappointment and finally the most difficult thing that you saved for last, replacing the fuel injector pump. And then finally vroemmmmmmmmmm the faithful Perkins came back to life and was immediately looking forward to it. The HWTK had succeeded again and that is number two of course. Hey, where did feather one go? Well that's posthumous to Baron Lorne Hiller who has loaded the ship with spare parts including (we didn't expect it) the injector pump. Without that part the trip would have been very different. The third feather is for ………. our Herbert! Once again, he quickly arranged a contact with whom Ton could discuss the engine. Troubleshooting engineer (nickname Arie) from Royal Van Twist (Distributor Perkins) was available by telephone at 12.45 with advice. The fourth feather for Arie!
And of course during all this key work, the chief engineer's assistant caught the swearing and quickly worked overboard, comforted him, repositioned a thousand and one parts, keys, screws and nuts so that they did not disappear into the bilge, pumped his fingers into the cramp and of course kept the Kalosini on course. And communication with the outside world is arranged. That was the last feather! Teamwork like you've never experienced before.
And now with a lovely sun in the cabin, Ton grunting softly behind me, we sail quietly towards St Helena. ETA Sunday morning around 7 o'clock, technology and weather of course….

Regards,
Ton and Mark
