Daily Report #4

On Tuesday morning we finally left. About eight hours after having topped off the water tanks. Through Sydney Bay under the monumental bridge past the monumental opera house to the great wild Southern Ocean. Bye Sydney. Mark and the undersigned went to the center the day before to let the storm rage and to see a bit more of the city. The most delicious "grandmother's apple pie" ever tasted with ice cream and caramel sauce. Took quite a long walk to arrive at K2 at the end of the afternoon.

Dinghy placed on the foredeck and everything in order (sea tight) before departure. Fine.

Have a nice long night…

Once at sea, the roles are divided and suddenly the rhythm of… everything changes!

Everything moves all the time. Everything you want to undertake takes much longer and if you are not careful you constantly bump or fall all kinds of things.

It was extra difficult because of wind force 5-6 and a swell of 6m. But for the time being only for windy or broad courses, so no hassle, just rolled out the genoa. Occasionally treed out.

And then soon the small problems that you only encounter when you are sailing.

Too little large battery capacity or too large a decrease when using the steering machine. But fortunately a well-functioning generator. Breaking of the crane line and resulting tangle of lines at the top of the mast.

As a result, you can no longer use your mainsail.

The wind vane that runs against a pole and can therefore be used more limitedly.

But luckily we solve everything together and the atmosphere is great.

That's what men can do. To collaborate.

And suddenly Mark turns out to be able to cook and likes to do so and he likes to do the pots and pans. Michel is always cheerful and full of energy. And I try to arrange navigation and weather forecasts. Walked into Goldcoast today, did some shopping and had a beer. Have a nice warm shower and then a nice full night's sleep. See if the fatigue can be relieved somewhat.
