Daily Report #37

Dear readers,

Von Ostes nichts bisonderes..

Today I have dealt with the question of what is so great about making a journey by boat across the world's oceans that lasts for months.
Almost everyone loves the idea of such a bucket list item. 'How exciting, what a great adventure'. That's for sure.
But where is the ultimate YES feeling? What need is being satisfied here? Why should I do this?
That must have been a question that at least one of the many explorers or adventurers must have had before giving up, continuing or taking their last breath. Don't worry, I'll keep going.
It is of course different for everyone. For one it is eternal fame. That might be the case for me, but the number of readers we note does not seem to give rise to this. For another it is amassing fortune. Ruled out. We are not on youtube. There you are suddenly busy with something that looks very much like work. I really don't think that's the intention. And moreover, you always have to pimp your experiences so as not to make a movie of it. And I don't have such a good speedo swimsuit figure. For someone else, it's just enjoying encountering the unknown.
Of course something like that was behind it for me because I just wanted to do that big trip across an ocean once. How is that? A month of everyone leaving sailing on an immense body of water. I also hoped to be able to see nature on and in the water. The latter has been successful on the east coast and north coast of Australia. Brilliant there. You just can't swim there. And now I also know what it's like to be on the road for so long over a huge puddle of water. Fun, exciting, boring, annoying, difficult, easy, etc.
I'm just not sure if that's beneficial in any way. As in that you get a different perspective or feel different. As a technical pragmatist, I don't care much for that. I'm more annoyed that I can't solve the problems I have on board because it's still such a long way to go. And once you have arrived you have to be very careful not to waste too much time and lose money because you still have to live your dream, that boat has to go home.
In the end, the trick is whether you can be satisfied. In the here and now with what you do and what you can do.
But you don't necessarily have to undertake such a huge journey for that. You can, so to speak, practice this under a parasol somewhere on a terrace. I would think in La Reunion. See you later!
How happy we will both be when we have succeeded and we are looking forward to the next trip along the South African coast! Nice, land in sight!
