Daily Report #35

Hi everybody,

We can safely call ourselves salty herrings. Our suits have now turned white and when we take them off the salt falls to the ground next to us.
With the egg you only have to clap your hands. Too bad the pepper took a dip in the washing up water a few days ago and drowned.
And that brings me to the kitchen, also known as the pantry. After the words of praise about yesterday's meal, a bit about cooking Cooking at sea is a matter of endurance, perseverance, inventiveness, reflexes, courage and daring, a foresight and of course always wanting to win. Not without danger either. So pay attention because we are only sailing with two. When Michel, I believe the second night, lost on KO against the kitchen cabinet, we were able to take over his waiting. Now it is important to keep both on their feet, literally.
Fortunately, the kitchen is built in such a way that everything is within reach. We have a gimballed stove which is really the only safe near level place to put something down when you're cruising. Furthermore, everything you put down determines its own moment to jump away, to fall, to disappear or to undertake a personally targeted attack. We have a small corner where you can clamp yourself well. The cupboards with ingredients opposite below the counter with the stove on the right. A cupboard with pans above the stove, your spices to the left, the sink to the left and a rattling stack of plates, mugs, cups, containers of excellent German quality behind you. Everything up for grabs. Getting yourself stuck is the motto if you don't want to fall into your own kitchen knife. In any case, that permanent attention is required if you don't want to be nailed to the floor like Christ in this case. Cooking is also about planning well and putting everything down safely. Only open the kitchen cupboard to grab something and know what you want to grab because before you know it the rice, pasta, mashed potatoes, currants, nuts and muesli have figured out that it's their turn and see that pack of Ikea unhinged baking but back in to get the hutch. Also keep an eye on what you put where. The first cup of instant coffee I made it was the first miles out of Sydney with a 7 meter swell went like this. Making hot water. Grab a cup and put it on the counter. Grab a coffee and then put back all the food you brought with you. Find and pick up cup from the floor, pick up coffee from the floor. Put instant coffee (I really long for a real espresso!) in the cup and put coffee back. Find cup and pick it up from the floor. Sweeping up coffee and throwing it away etc etc. In the end it worked and has now become a short routine. Today was bread baking day with a few pancakes at noon while Ton went to work with the tool box and lunch box under his arm. So we both have our specialties.
Anyway (practicing some French) We had another great sailing day today! Right wind, sunshine after a wonderfully quiet night where the ship swayed through in the light of the moon and stars. And so we get a few more. And that makes life in the gym and kitchen a lot more pleasant.

Regards,
Mark and Tony
