Daily Report #32
Thursday, 6 July 2023
Dear salt stormers,
No fun with you either, I understand. Code red. And a lot of damage. Coincidentally, we have here too. We sail in an area with all those red spots and wind vanes with many stripes. Where have I seen that before?
We have now gradually switched to the waiting system 3 on 3 off. That's to prevent you from pulling it out of the tiller. Because it is constantly manned.
The repair is still holding up fine. By the way, this morning I thought I heard the crack of splitting wood when we once again whizzed down beautifully pivoting on top of a wave crest. But I do hear more things that are not there, that is the essence of a sailing, moving ship. This morning I even heard someone Hey, coffee? Call. With the voice of a person whose name may no longer be spoken on this boat. I've looked back too. Didn't get coffee. Even those sounds are full of empty promises. Nothing going on at the moment. Good tiller. Don't break down. We are crossing the shipping lane of ships sailing around the cape. So we have contact again and help from a lot closer if needed. We are not as alone as we thought. A good moment to watch the film Apollo 13 again. 'Houston we have a problem' Well, compared to the problems they had, we really don't have a problem. At least not a problem that could leave us frozen and alone in space.
Let's take a look again tonight; the stars and planets. Beautiful! If you readers do that at the same time as I do then maybe we all feel the same way.
Dizzy, bony, sleep deprived and really looking forward to a cold beer on a French terrace.
Cheers!
