Daily report #108

Hello Boppers, Markers and Tonners,
That was Cabo Verde. What a different world. A little disapointing. You are approached by poor people who you also see lying and messing around here and there. We distributed some alms. For example, to a young Creole woman. 22 years old. Isabel. With a flower in her hair. Do you have anything to eat? Can you miss something? Help? She didn't smell very fresh, had a black eye and was wearing dirty clothes. She slept on the street. Your heart breaks. Just like all wheelchair users. Pushed around by younger family members. Young people too, at the supermarket. They don't follow you into the store, so you sprint through the cordon. For the rest it is just ignore and look away. It's all very embarrassing. So we have alleviated some need again. Left and right. And of course there are also rich people there. they are there always and everywhere. Cool cars. Big bellies. The privileged life.
The marina was better than those of Port Elisabeth and St Helena. We were able to take a nice shower several times again. In about 34 hours we filled the fuel tank (750 liters), filled the drinking water tanks (650 liters) and did some shopping. But it was blisteringly hot. Full sun and no wind. The sweat is dripping off you. Really not funny. Fortunately, we were able to have a nice beer at the floating bar with Philip, a young German solo sailor. You can also eat well at the bar. So we did that too. The drinking water here is suspect so we bought 60 liters of bottled water in 6 plastic bottles. The residents also drink bottled water. Where do all those plastic bottles go? Recycled of course!
Fortunately, it is a lot cooler at sea. And here we are again as I write this. Only inside it is still a sauna.
We're on our way again.
Greetings Mark and Ton
