Daily Report #50

Dear All,
We're off again! The dot began to move on the map around 1:00 PM local time. Initially a bit slow and zigzagging but now steadily around 6 knots in the right direction.
It was preceded by a morning of hard work. Doing the last things, the cleaning and travel preparation (reading in the ports and procedures, plotting a route on the map and downloading the grip files for the weather forecasts.
Prior to the morning, of course, was the last evening. The last time to the Boucanier, our favorite pub, where one last time could drink the tasty beers, which resulted in a drinking party with a few regular customers….. Ton has discussed politics in his best French, which is very well done, with a real Gaulist. old customs officer whom de Gaule had seen . It was sparkling and cheerful. I had a conversation about the somewhat newer politics of the velvet revolution in Tunisia. But the boy became a bit skittish and suddenly stopped using google translate. Because it was the last day, the owners also contributed with a round of the business and we received a bottle of rum with everything in it, homemade and the specialty of the house. They waved us goodbye and with that we left our second real hangout of this trip. We meandered straight home one behind the other and only woke up when Customs also waved us off and solemnly stamped the forms with a large stamp. Furthermore, they probably thought the two hungover gentlemen were a strange couple.
Anyway. Said goodbye to all neighbors, started the engine and left the safe haven. We were immediately welcomed by the whales who happily jumped out of the water and waved their fins. What a beautiful sight. We tacked anyway when we were on a crossing course with 100 yards to go. Now that it is dark we sail over a “mer agité” which is also a bit annoying for us. there is no quiet swinging again and with a lot of swinging and stamping we sail into the night away from the lights of la Reunion. First waypoint 500 miles. We're on our way again.
