Daily Report #5

Wednesday and Thursday

Eat, sleep, sail, repeat. That's about it a bit.
We have arrived in Mackay since yesterday. A small town on the east coast. Many bulk carriers for
anchor here. Due to a bulk terminal close by. The anchorage area is so large that the ships with
helicopters are piloted. It's all very well orchestrated.

We are quite tired upon arrival in Mackay. We therefore almost only have Bft 6-7 for the
had to choose and then even this little ship goes on a rampage. There is a good discipline
team on board because all watches are run. Only the last day we had the dream
weather. In a t shirt (hers) on deck and full sun all day. At night a beautiful starry sky
with a full view of the Milky Way. Breathtaking. Little wildlife seen. Maybe just as well
because most of the wildlife here eats you up or poisons you to death. And we in the Netherlands just bleating
about a pack of wolves. Australians are all nice and helpful. Had a lift yesterday
to downtown Mackay. Dropped off at the Mac. Laugh.

We finished a lot of jobs today. Arranging all those things that you notice as
you actually go sailing with a boat. Full bilges, failing pumps, leaking windows, chafing
sheets, mainsail trim and reefing options, emergency steering, being able to transfer Routes and
waypoints from ipad to plotter, etc. Cleaning the ship again and washing everything and salt-free
to make. Not a moment of boredom. It's an experience.

Another beer tonight Cheers San! And then leave tomorrow evening for a nocturnal sail trip to a
island in the Great Barrier Reef. To arrive there in the morning. All fun and games
for the big crossing.
