Daily Report #34
Saturday, 8 July 2023
Good morning dear readers.
And what a beautiful morning. When I awoke after a period of sleep that followed a very nasty watch with all kinds of wind and waves from all kinds of angles and with the constant flapping of the sails… a refreshing dip in the ocean!
It so happened that a pin of the wind vane had broken off and had to be replaced. That pin holds the rudder blade that hangs roughly 20 cm above the water surface. Boat shut down, swim ladder rigged, peg out, peg on my nose and my skinny butt offered to whatever sharks wait quietly below the surface. vane.
And then my magical watch began!
15-20 knots of wind from the SOUTHEAST! Raise two, add some sunshine and go with that banana. FINALLY. The promised conditions that make this crossing so much fun.
I enjoyed myself all day. And now blogging this great success.
Our high spirits contributed to Mark's making the best meal he's ever had with mashed potatoes, fried onions, canned onions in butter sauce, canned jackfruit, cheese and an array of oriental spices whose names I can't pronounce let alone remember. (I'm actually a mashed pot boy) Delicious. Coffee with a chocolate after; a day with only highlights.
