Wind
Silence. I've been wearing earplugs for three days. To not lose my mind. Not many people may know that. That you don't lose your mind with earplugs in.
It is an effective remedy. It helps to sleep and to muffle the constant noise of the engine and especially the propeller shaft to an acceptable level. So it is not real silence. As it currently prevails in this area. Calm. It's beautiful somehow. That very calm sea. Not a wrinkle. Every now and then a flying fish and then my boat making a trail through it with quite a racket. And two of those reading men on it. Visibly irritated and looking for wind.
We played for shark food again for a while. A refreshing dip. Although I was really only in there for two seconds. The immense depth beneath me and the thought that something is lurking in the depths makes me the biggest seawater coward on board. You can probably imagine it. I'm not proud of it. The idea that I will somehow no longer be able to get on board also scares me. I call it my prudent nature, although I also dare to take risks. Just look at this whole undertaking...
Somewhat refreshed, we got back on board. We stopped the engine for a moment, checked the vital parts and took a dip. Once out of the water, a breath of wind arose. FROM THE RIGHT DIRECTION! Things are going in the right direction. Probably another day of motoring and then we can go home with the current.
But before that happens, we first have to roll vigorously, because despite the lack of waves, she still does a good job of turning around in a number of watches with earplugs. Waiting. On the wind. Away from the silence. Earplugs out. Hopefully Mark won't have to syringe my ears again. "You can do it yourself," he will say.
Lunch, potatoes with a vegetable cream sauce and the almost last fresh vegetables.
Breakfast with yogurt, cruesli and fresh fruit.
Bread in the evening.
Marine life; very little, not even under the boat.
Greetings Mark and Ton.
